After being postponed due to Hurricane Helene the highly anticipated Career Fair Expo is back at the highest of seven hills. Taking place in the AL Lawson Multi-Purpose Center on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair gives students a platform to network with leading employers from across a multitude of industries.

This year’s fair will feature companies such as AON, ALDI, American Junior Golf Association, The NBA, and The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will all be in attendance and more.

Behind the career fair each and every year is FAMU’s Career and professional development center. They offer students resume building, interview critiques, as well as connections to job opportunities if needed.

As a general career fair not specifically tailored to one specific major, many students come to explore their options.

Noah Smith, a third-year Business Administration student, plans on going to the career fair to build his skills and land a job for the summer.

“I hope to explore various internship opportunities, connect with potential employers, and to further build on my networking skills, so that I can eventually secure an internship,” Smith said.

“I’ll also be focused on building genuine connections, rather than just exchanging contact information.”

Networking is a common theme for the career fair and many students use the event to put their names on the companies’ radar even if it doesn’t result in an internship.

Antonio Hughes, senior Business Administration student, uses the career fair as a networking opportunity to collect contacts from potential employers.

“I have to network with as many companies as possible that fit my career goals and even learn more about my career field,” Hughes said. “Having an intentional plan of who I want to talk to, getting facts in each company beforehand, and also exchanging LinkedIn and numbers.”
