The Florida A&M University [FAMU] Rattlers' three-peat Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference [MEAC] champions will be in attendance at the FSU Women's Cross Country Invitational on Friday, starting at 5 p.m.
This Invitational will mark the team’s fourth meet of the 2015 season with most of the original runners since the first championship.
Senior captain Effiey Kosgei, from Eldoret, Kenya, will lead the team as they have been in training five to six days a week to get themselves prepared for their meet. Kosgei has won a MEAC championship every year since coming to FAMU from Kenya and is ready to bring home a fourth.
Assistant coach Tiffiny Morrow, has strong faith that the team will do great this season as they go out to compete against tough competitors, but said that they are ready.
"These girls have showed so much hard work and dedication," Morrow said. "This is a group of girls that excel in the classroom as well, which is how they prepare themselves to be ready to compete."
Morrow is a former FAMU track and field athlete and she has been with the women's cross country team under head coach Darlene Moore for three years.
"This team is very dedicated to each other and they feed off one another," Morrow said. "The girls are ready to show up and give it their all at the FSU Invitational."
The Lady Rattlers will compete for their fourth consecutive championship on Oct. 31.
