It’s show season and the campus is buzzing about it. Florida A&M’s dance and modeling troupes are kicking off their fall showcases.
Boyz of Poison is hosting “Shut Up and Dance” Saturday at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall. The compilation of entertainment consists of appearances from dance groups, step teams and modeling troupes.
The social media sites have been set ablaze with notifications about interest meetings, preview showcases and auditions. Twittering tweets, Facebook wall posts and Blackberry Messenger blasts are just a few tools campus organizations are using to promote their events.
The teams had to try out for a spot in the show. This year, the production will include performances from Torque, House Arrest 2 Championship Dance Team Inc., Star Statuz, Rampage Step Team and more. Students can expect entertainment from stunts to theatrics and skits.
“We were fortunate to be chosen to perform so we have been practicing all week and putting together a great show,” said vice president of House Arrest 2 and senior public relations student Raymond Love.
The show promises to showcasing a variety of student talent.
“We are the only step team in the show so we have to represent and bring it full force,” said Marcus Charles, a veteran member of Rampage Step Team.
“Shut Up and Dance” is an annual FAMU based showcase. Tickets are $5 for presale and $7 at the door. Visit www.thefamuanonline.com for photos from the event.
