Every year Florida A&M University community kicks off the academic school year in a festive mode by showing school spirit.
Each year students participate in the annual spirit color week by wearing school colors of orange and green, or other university paraphernalia.
FAMU is letting students know to recognize not only their school colors, but to join in with other Schools and colleges for the upcoming football season.
Sandra Inge has held the position as director of FAMU’s Office of Student Activities for 35 years. She expects to see more school spirit and the appreciation of the opportunity that student’s have been granted to attend college.
Students also gave their own thoughts about attempt to get students involved.
“I feel that this a great way unite the students at Florida A&M University and to instill more school spirit,” said Lauren Farrar, 20, a third year elementary education student from Miami.
According to Inge, the event will encourage fans, alumni and students to wear their school apparel.
“The idea is very creative, because the only time we show school spirit is at a sports game,” Farrar said.
