Nestled under a billboard on the northern end of Lake Bradford Road hides Bandidos Burrito Company.Mostly frequented by Florida State University students, this eight-table restaurant boasts fresh ingredients and jam-packed burritos. Catering to the taste palate and appetite of college co-eds, this restaurant specializes in stretching the dollar.Bandidos is easy to pass because it is so quietly tucked in. It sets beside a nailsalon and is adjacent to the McDonalds and Subway, which are close to Florida State University’s football stadium. The restaurant has a very humble exterior that is a bit disheveled.Inside, the restaurant attempts to set cantina-like ambiance by using a neutral color-scheme and by posting culturally relevant relics on the wall. Not to mention, I was delighted to see the menu uniquely painted around theordering window. The $8.35 that I spent on a taco combo (three soft-shelled tacos, chips and salsa and a medium drink) went a long way. I was able to stretch my lunch-time meal into a plate-stacked dinner. Furthermore, my meal was one of the most expensive entrees on the menu. Most items on their menu are in the $5-$7 range and are familiar dishes.”A foodie can find a nice selection of quesadillas, hard- and soft-shelled tacos, enchiladas, chips, traditional dips, and of course, burritos.Mexican and southwest cuisine is known for rich flavor, earthy spices andkicks of heat. The salsa, something that Mexican cuisine is known for, lacked all three of these criteria. Though I could tell it was fresh and homemade, it was extremely bland and watery. I judge a Mexican restaurant by its chips and salsa.Though I was pleased with the chips, I was a bit disappointed by the salsa. They pride themselves in being “Tallahassee’s Best Authentic Mexican Cuisine,” but I would like to think otherwise. The only thing that is authentic about Bandidos Burritos is the longhorn skull that hangs on the wall.If you are interested in trying Bandidos Burrito Company, they run a special on Monday through Friday, from 4:20 p.m. to 7:20 p.m., on minitacos and alcohol. They also offer anall day special on Tuesday on mini soft-shelled tacos. Their regular hours of business are 11:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.I like Bandidos Burrito Company because it is similar to a popular mega shopping center. The prices are terrific and you get a lot for your money, but the quality is below average. give Bandidos Burrito Company and 5.8 out of 10.Food: 5/10Cleanliness: 6/10Atmosphere: 2/10Customer Service: 7/10Price: 9/10Average: 5.8/10
