Every academic year students complain about delayed checks, long lines, and employees not willing to help. However, the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarship decided to be proactive this upcoming year and spread around campus colorful pamphlets to warn students that they need to take charge of their financial aid.
In the pamphlet students are encouraged to access the Federal Student Aid Website, www.dlenote.ed.gov, where they can make their master promissory note, MPN. According to the Website a MPN is a “promissory note that can be used to make one or more loans for one or more academic years (up to ten years).” The office emphasizes that every student must do a new promissory note with the U.S Department of Education for the effective summer 2010.
The office also sent a message for new Florida A& M students to complete their entrance counseling at Mapping Your Future Website, www.mappingyourfuture.org. The site offers to student orientation about career, college, financial aid, and money management information and is part of social networking sites such as Facebook MySpace and Twitter.
In addition, the office reminded to students that the priority deadline for the FASFA was on March 1.
