Jaheim has released “Another Roun,” his fifth album showing a more mature side of the R&B singer/songwriter.
The album debuted at the number three spot on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 112,000 units in its first week.
The album features one guest appearance by New York veteran rapper Jadakiss.
Unlike his first three efforts, this album shows a much more grown side of the New Brunswick, N.J. native.
With melodic songs that mirror great singers before him and his own signature twist, “Another Round” will not disappoint.
“Ain’t Leavin Without You” is the first single from this album. It was released on the radio on Oct. 23, 2009. This song brings funk to a new generation of listeners, with a bit of hip-hop flair.
The lyrical poetry that is sung within his verses paints pictures in a style that only Jaheim can deliver.
However, it is his mature outlook in the lyrics that bring a lot of class rather than suggestive wording.
His lyrical talent is exhibited on tracks such as “Whoa” and “Bed is Listening.” His fifth album shows much promise. It is still not infallible, however, its prominent flaws are not easy to hear.
“Finding My Way Back” is the second single from this album, it was released on Jan. 22, 2010.
As the album concludes, the final song was the remix to the albums lead single, “Ain’t Leavin Without You,” featuring Jadakiss.
Jaheim’s extra spice on the record gives the song the swagger it needs to appeal to a youthful urban audience. It has been said that this might be his final album under Atlantic Records.
If this is true, it will serve as a great going away album.
