Florida A&M University’s students and alumni can now let out an sigh of relief. The FAMUAN has received information that the SACS committee has lifted Florida A&M University’s probationary status.
“They are now in compliance with all of our standards,” said Belle Wheelan, president of the Commission of Colleges of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Wheelan added that FAMU’s accreditation was never completely removed, the school was simply on probation.
Last December, SACS committee members decided to keep FAMU on probation because of ongoing issues, some involving the university’s finances. A press conference with FAMU administrators is underway now.
