The Cultural Arts Alliance at Railroad Square (CAARS) will have its monthly First Friday event June 5 at Railroad Square Art Park located at 623 Industrial Drive.

CAARS has been a non-profit organization for six years, led by executive director, Laura Floyd.

Floyd has been executive director for two years, she hopes that the Tallahassee community comes out to enjoy and experience the atmosphere of First Friday.

"Come circle the square, see great local artists and art galleries,” Laura said. “Listen to excellent local music, shop at groovy stores, visit the new PROOF Brewery/tap room and indulge yourself with all kinds of foods and treats at The Crum Box Gastgarden!”

Mariah Tillman from Jacksonville, Fla., does not know what to expect since this will be her first time attending First Friday.

“I have heard good and bad things about First Friday, mostly good though,” Tillman said. “I am still new to Tallahassee and this is the first event I will be attending since I moved here. I just want to have a good time.”

This event is from 6-9 p.m., and consists of various sites and entertainment such as: The Crum Box Gastgarden, South of Soho Gallery, Anhaica Bag Works, Yoshiko's Art House, Tally Yakkers, and Sharon Fox with her alto and soprano saxophones.

Carnell Golden, a second-year Tallahassee Community College architect student from Miami, usually attends First Friday with his girlfriend. What he likes about going to First Friday is the different vendors and boutiques around the park.

“Each time I have attended a First Friday event I always end up buying more than I expect,” Golden said. “It’s like I can’t help it, there are a lot of things that catch my eye.”
